The South Delta Family Resource Centre (Ladner Early Childhood Development Hub) is located at Unit #205 - 5000 Bridge Street, Ladner, BC (above Remax or Speeds at Harbour Park Mall) in an innovative multi-service Early Childhood Development Hub, shared with key community partners, providing a wide range of services to the community. The Hub was developed to provide seamless access to services to children 0-6 and their families/caregivers.
SDFRC is a safe and nurturing place where learning is encouraged through play. We are dedicated to helping you create strong family bonds, supporting one another, sharing ideas, forming long lasting friendships and having fun with your children. All programs and activities at SDFRC are offered free of charge.
Programs
Parents/caregivers and their children 0-6 years of age are invited to our Drop In programs where we offer a wide range of fun filled activities, designed especially for you and your little ones. The environment is set up in a developmentally and age appropiate manner in order to offer activities that promote and enhance children's development in all domains through play. Some of the activities offered are dramatic play, housekeeping, fine and gross motor play, painting, crafts, songs, stories, books and much more. We also provide support and resources to parents and caregivers in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Drop In programs are offered:
Monday to Friday 9:15 - 11:15 am
Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 12:30 - 2:30 pm
Our Infant Programs consist of the following:
Infant Signing on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:00 pm
Mother Goose programming for children up to 15 months of age provides songs and rhymes, designed to promote bonding, develop your child’s eagerness for learning, communication and literacy. Our Kindergarten Readiness programs in collaboration with the Delta School District are essential for children who have not attended Preschool, before they enter the school system. This program is offered every spring at selected schools in Delta.
PARENTCONNECT
The ParentConnect program offers parenting support, education, advocacy and information to families with children between the ages of 0 to 6 living in Delta. We aim to foster safe and healthy child development, promote a positive parent/child relationship and enhance family functioning. The Program is outreach and families are visited in their home or the community with services identifying family strengths and encouraging self reliance. We also provide information on other services/resources, to help participants get connected for additional and future support.
Who is eligible?
If you have children between the ages of 0 to 6, live in Delta and are isolated and/or facing other challenges (financial, emotional, parenting, health, nutrition, etc).
Referrals
Referrals are accepted from community agencies, health nurses, hospitals, social workers and schools. Self-referrals are also welcome.
Length of Service
Ranges from a few months to a maximum of one year.
